Book of Matthew Summary/Notes: (28 Chapters)

Chapter 1: Genealogy and birth of Jesus.

Chapter 2: Visit of the Magi and flight to Egypt.

Chapter 3: John the Baptist prepares the way for Jesus.

Chapter 4: Temptation of Jesus and the beginning of His ministry.

Chapter 5: Sermon on the Mount - teachings on various topics including the Beatitudes, salt and light, and the Law.

Chapter 6: Teaching on giving to the needy, prayer, and fasting.

Chapter 7: Teaching on judging others, the narrow and wide gates, and the wise and foolish builders.

Chapter 8: Jesus heals a leper and a centurion's servant, calms a storm, and casts out demons.

Chapter 9: Jesus heals a paralytic, calls Matthew to follow Him, heals a woman and raises a girl from the dead.

Chapter 10: Jesus sends out the twelve apostles to preach and heal.

Chapter 11: John the Baptist's question and Jesus' reply, woes to unrepentant cities, and invitation to the weary and burdened.

Chapter 12: Jesus heals on the Sabbath, Pharisees accuse Jesus of being demon-possessed, Jesus' response.

Chapter 13: Parables of the sower, weeds among the wheat, mustard seed, yeast, treasure in a field, pearl of great price, and net.

Chapter 14: Jesus feeds 5,000, walks on water, and heals many.

Chapter 15: Pharisees accuse Jesus of breaking tradition, Jesus' response, and healing of a Canaanite woman's daughter.

Chapter 16: Pharisees and Sadducees ask for a sign, Peter confesses Jesus as the Messiah, and Jesus predicts His death and resurrection.

Chapter 17: Transfiguration, healing of a demon-possessed boy, and Jesus predicts His death and resurrection again.

Chapter 18: Teaching on humility and forgiveness, parable of the lost sheep, and how to deal with sin in the church.

Chapter 19: Teaching on divorce, blessings of children, and the rich young man's question.

Chapter 20: Parable of the workers in the vineyard and Jesus predicts His death and resurrection again.

Chapter 21: Triumphal entry into Jerusalem, cleansing of the temple, and parable of the tenants.

Chapter 22: Parable of the wedding banquet, paying taxes to Caesar, and greatest commandment.

Chapter 23: Woes to the teachers of the law and Pharisees, lament over Jerusalem.

Chapter 24: Olivet Discourse - Jesus predicts the destruction of the temple and His second coming.

Chapter 25: Parables of the ten virgins, talents, and the sheep and goats.

Chapter 26: Plot to kill Jesus, anointing at Bethany, last supper, and Peter's denial.

Chapter 27: Jesus' trial before Pilate, crucifixion, death, and burial.

Chapter 28: Resurrection and Great Commission.

What Is Evangelism?  Evangelism is the intentional and loving act of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others. It is the clear communication of God’s plan of salvation so that people can hear, understand, and respond to the Gospel. Evangelism centers on the message that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again , providing the way for forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and eternal life. It is not about arguments, pressure, or force. Evangelism is about truth spoken in love . As Christians, we are called to share this message with everyone because God’s salvation is offered to all people—regardless of background, race, age, education, income, or past mistakes. Criteria for Evangelizing

The Basics of Evangelizing  Listed here are three foundational suggestions for evangelizing. You must be saved. You must pray that the holy spirit takes control. You must study God's word. There is truly no strict right or wrong method—these are simply practical guidelines to help us think intentionally about sharing the Gospel. When reaching out to lost souls, it can be helpful to consider the basic questions: What? When? Where? Why? How? These questions help us become more thoughtful and effective in our approach. What? What is the message we are sharing? The message is the Good News of Jesus Christ and God’s Plan of Salvation. When? When should we share?
