The Beatitudes

Short Bible Lesson: Three Important Teachings of Jesus and the Bible

1. The Beatitudes

📖 Scripture: Gospel of Matthew 5:3–12

The Beatitudes are teachings given by Jesus Christ during the Sermon on the Mount. They describe the attitudes and character God blesses.

Main Beatitudes

  • “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:3)
  • “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5)
  • “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.” (Matthew 5:7)
  • “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” (Matthew 5:8)
  • “Blessed are the peacemakers.” (Matthew 5:9)

Important Points

  • God blesses humility, kindness, and mercy.
  • True happiness comes from living God's way.
  • Followers of Christ should reflect His character.
