Habakkuk Brief Study Notes

Sometimes studying the bible is difficult because it can be hard to decipher/understand.
These notes are for the encouragement of the study of God's word daily, (only to be used/read with your Bible.) Not a Bible replacement.

Chapter 1:

This chapter begins with Habakkuk questioning God about the injustice and violence that he sees in Judah. Habakkuk asks God why he allows the wicked to prosper and the righteous to suffer. God responds by revealing that he will use the Babylonians to punish Judah for its sins. Habakkuk is shocked and questions God's plan but ultimately submits to God's sovereignty.

Chapter 2:

In this chapter, God responds to Habakkuk's concerns by revealing that the Babylonians themselves will be punished for their pride and violence. Habakkuk is encouraged to trust in God's justice and wait for the fulfillment of his promises. The chapter ends with a series of "woes" pronounced against Babylon for its sins.

Chapter 3:

This chapter is a prayer of Habakkuk in response to God's revelation. Habakkuk reflects on God's past deeds of salvation and asks God to intervene in the present situation. He expresses his trust in God's power and his willingness to wait patiently for God's deliverance.

In summary, the Book of Habakkuk is a dialogue between the prophet and God about the problem of evil and suffering. Habakkuk questions God's justice and sovereignty in the face of injustice, but ultimately comes to trust in God's plan. God reveals that he will use the Babylonians to punish Judah, but also promises to punish the Babylonians for their sins. Habakkuk responds with a prayer of faith, expressing his trust in God's power and willingness to wait for his deliverance.
