Malachi Brief Study Notes

Sometimes studying the bible is difficult because it can be hard to decipher/understand.
These notes are for the encouragement of the study of God's word daily, (only to be used/read with your Bible.) Not a Bible replacement.

The Book of Malachi is a prophetic book in the Old Testament of the Bible. The book is attributed to the prophet Malachi, who likely lived in the 5th century BCE. The book contains messages of rebuke and correction for the people of Judah, who had become complacent and disobedient in their service to God. Malachi confronts the people about their lack of faithfulness and calls them to return to God with their whole hearts. The book also contains prophecies about the coming of the Messiah and the ultimate judgment of God.

Chapter 1: Malachi begins by rebuking the priests for offering blemished sacrifices and dishonoring God's name. He calls on them to repent and offer pure sacrifices to God.

Chapter 2: Malachi continues his rebuke of the priests, accusing them of breaking their covenant with God by marrying foreign wives and leading the people into sin. He warns them that God will judge them for their disobedience.

Chapter 3: Malachi delivers a message from God, promising to send a messenger to prepare the way for the Lord. He also calls on the people to repent and return to God, promising that he will bless them if they do.

Chapter 4: Malachi ends with a prophecy about the coming day of the Lord, a time of judgment and salvation. He predicts that Elijah will return before the day of the Lord to turn the hearts of the people back to God.

In summary, both Zechariah and Malachi contain prophecies about the coming day of the Lord, a time of judgment and salvation. Zechariah's prophecies include visions of God's plan for Judah and the coming of a king who will bring peace to the nations. Malachi rebukes the priests for their disobedience and calls on the people to repent and return to God, promising that he will bless them if they do. He also predicts the coming of a messenger to prepare the way for the Lord and the return of Elijah before the day of the Lord.

It is the clear communication of God’s plan of salvation so that people can hear, understand, and respond to the Gospel.
